Which Ipod is for You?
Which Ipod is for You?
iPod shuffle
The iPod shuffle, available in first and second generation models, is the smallest and simplest of the iPod family. Apple created the shuffle for the active set…runners, joggers, hikers and the like. They wanted something small, compact, light weight, easy to use and easy to tuck away. The first generation of the iPod shuffle is about as big as a package of gum. The second generation iPod shuffle is much smaller than the first and has a back clip which makes it easier to carry around on a run or jog. With between 240 and 500 song capacity it is the ideal ipod if you want a tiny, discrete, no-fuss music player when you’re on the go.
iPod nano
The nano is Apple’s mid-priced iPod solution for those of us that don’t require video playback or massive amounts of storage space. Its stunning appearance and versatility have made it the world’s favorite music player. It can store 2,000 or 4,000 songs, depending on which version (8gb or 16gb) you opt for and give you up to 24 hours music playback on just one charge of the battery.
You watch music videos, photos, films and TV shows on the nano’s two inch color LCD screen. You can even download films and TV shows from the internet using iTunes and transfer them to your nano. And, if you use the Spoken Menus, you can navigate almost all of your nano’s features without looking at the screen. The nano is for anyone who wants an incredibly compact and lightweight entertainment center on the go.
iPod classic
The new sixth-generation (6G) of the iPod, the "iPod Classic," offers the same new graphical interface found in the Nano. It also touts the most battery and storage capacity of any iPod model. With its new all metal case with an anodized aluminum metal face surrounding a glass screen, the face and the screen are almost impossible to scratch up.
The 80GB 6G Classic is a bit thinner than the 30GB 5.5G iPod and the 160GB model is slightly thicker. With other ipod models maxing out at much reduced storage levels like the iphone and itouch at 16 gb and 8 gig for the nano, that leaves a wide gap in capacity between the classic and the other iPod models. If you need storage capacity greater than 16 gb, then the classic is for you.
iPod touch
The iPod touch combines all of the great features of the shuffle, nano and classic, takes away the click wheel and adds a three and a half inch Multi-Touch screen along with some unique extra software features. One of those features that takes your iPod to another level of use is the built-in Wi-Fi technology that allows you to connect to a wireless network where you can then browse the internet and manage your emails. Add just a bit more software and a built-in speaker and you have an iphone. These two products from Apple, the iPhone and iPod Touch, each generate more web traffic than any other handheld devices. The iPhone leads with an 11 percent share of total handheld web usage while the iPod Touch follows with 7.4 percent share.
Both the itouch and iphone come in 8gb and 16gb models. The graphics are absolutely supurb and the graphical user interface is totally intuitive. If you are looking for the ultimate in leading edge ipod technology combined with internet access then the touch or (even more advanced) the iphone is just what you are looking for.
Whether you need a simple device to clip to your shorts as you jog, or a small device to store a massive library of music albums and videos, or something that gives you great audio and video capabilities with internet access, there is an ipod that is just right for you.
